Went Snowshoeing up San J. from the tram on Saturday for the 1st time. It was an awesome adventure with my buddy Brent, & his girlfriend Teresa. Saw many of the regular suspects (Ellen, Libmitmo, Ty, Tina, Pete, Nick, etc.). You guys & gals are all great! Thanks to all the peeps on this board for the & timely advice on equipment, training, and conditions. Here is a link some photos:

You took some great photos. how come you don't look like its 4 degrees at the top. when we were up there i was so cold i looked over at snow creek (which was bogged in with clouds) then had to head down. It was freezing.

It was great to meet you and Brent, thanks for the heads up about Ty headed my way

Pictures are great, I really like the statement about "Help me Mr. Wizard" have not heard anyone make a reference to that old cartoon in ages. That might give away our ages :shock:

By the way Tina who's Libmitmo ? I think Libmitmo is someone I should get to know, they are "Lib" erated, they own a baseball "Mit" and they can catch the baseball "Mo" than others :wink:

Hi Dawn,

I'm a newbie to snow shoeing, so people like Ellen, Sally, Kathryn61 and others who have been up there more often in the snow might have better advice.

It's been warm this week so the snow will be melting fast and consolidating. You may get away with micro spikes much of the way.

I did have to slow my pace because of the altitude. I've been doing most of my hiking below 4,000' this winter. Oh yeah, carry a compass and a good map in case you get disoriented in the snow. Remember the 10 essentials:
