Falls Creek Recon

On Sunday, four of us did a brutal 16-hour recon of the Falls Creek drainage on San Jacinto. I now know why I've only heard of one ascent of the drainage. Thanks to bluerail for guiding us up the "legal approach".

Sounds horrible! Well, the brush, I mean.

The pics and the TR were great, and I know what you mean about that feeling you get when you realize you're not on track and contemplating trying to get down an exposed precipice. Trying that in the dark would be beyond spooky. Glad you all had a good time and made it back out alive!

I'm wondering if there wouldn't be a possible path on the west side of that north face, along Snow Creek, coming down from the PCT above (south) of DWA land to the drainage. I contemplated that a couple weeks ago when I took that pic I posted. You'd only lose a few hundred feet...but I don't know about the brush. It might be fun if there's limited bushwhackin'.

Guys, what about just taking sleeping pills or just buying a gun? I mean, really, if you're trying to kill yourselves, there's got to be an easier way.

For the record, neverwashasbeen is aware of other ascents of the Falls Creek drainage, primarily in big snow years.

zippetydude: are you referring to routes up the (ahem) East Branch of the West Fork of Snow Creek -- that is, the drainage that leads up to the impressive network of couloirs on the northwest side of Folly Peak?
