I guess the ranch forwarded my letter to a wildlife biologist

The coyote was probably shot (or caught in a leg trap) and its carcass tuck on the fence. A lot of ranchers kill coyotes and stick their pelts on fences to warn other coyotes (?) to stay away or at least to advertise their dislike of coyotes. I have seen it before, particularly in the Kanab/Escalante area.
