Wasn't it just two years ago the guy who had a cabin in Running Springs went for a short hike near his cabin and never came back in a storm like this - and he was a lifetime hiker/climber outdoor enthusist? Kind of makes you wonder how easy it is even for experienced people to get confused in white out conditions in an area he knew quite well.

Chances are the Tram will not open until late morning on Saturday as the temperature will be colder this Sat, then it was last Sun and it took them until 10:15AM to send up the first tram, plus the snow level is supposed to be even lower and more of it - only time will tell on this one - all I can say is bring on the snow

Oh no! Every time the forecasters get all excited, it's the kiss of death for a snow storm. Quick, knock on wood!

I was amazed to find snow at 3k over in Snow Creek last weekend, and 6" deep at 4k. I'm wondering just how low it will go if this cutoff low actually pans out.

Will someone out there take some pics Sunday morning and post them so we can see how it turns out? Wouldn't it be cool if there were snow at the LOWER tram station?

@ Zippitydude---i can take pics, i live right here. I walked to the snow from
Ramon in less'n 2 hrs last monday. So I plan on walking
up there sunday Morning again too if the storm has left n
its sunny, I can cruz down the tram road b4 my hike too n
take some pics if theres snow there too:D

If the reports are true this is what you might see Sat and Sunday in Palm Springs

This is from 11-18-2004 and when I woke up at 8 AM there was snow on the ground in town but it was not staying is mostly melted with 60 seconds of touching the ground.

People were actually stopping on the freeway to grab snow, they didn't even bother to get all the way over on the shoulder - only in So. Cal

lilbitmo, those are some great pictures. I actually thought those were from today! Very exciting, I'm thinking of shooting for a Sunday summit, if its not too nasty.
