Walt:

It's a great idea to have a get-together and so nice of you to invite everyone to a BBQ. I wish I could come, but I'll be giving Rainier a try on the 14th.

Great idea, MW--I will still do my "get-together" in the fall, but in the meantime would love to take the tram up and eat your Que. Middayish to late afternoon works for me. Hell I'll come for breakfast if I'm getting this barbecue ....let me know what to bring ....

Sounds like a great fun idea but I will be on my way to Tahoe for a week. Any suggestions for fun hikes about twenty miles in the Tahoe area?

Saturday July 14th 11:00am Long Valley picnic tables. All I need now is a rough head count. If you think you might attend then please post or shoot me a PM.

Hope to see everyone we possibly can. Otherwise I'm head back up to over 300lbs.

Thanks, all, for the tips on not over training. :) Wow, coming to eat BBQ is actually part of my training program? How cool is that? :D

I'll talk to my GF tomorrow, but I am 95% there. A mellow event like this is something that we can both enjoy. She won't go on most of my little excursions. :(

I'm thinking of doing a little pre-event leg stretch up to Round Valley or Tamarack Valley. Is there a place where I can leave an ice chest? I've never really looked when I'm in the tram station since I'm usually there just to hike or ski. Probably not I guess, but anyone know off hand?

Do they sell bags of ice at the Mtn Station? I could bring drinks and just carry them on my pre-event hike. If I get two or three 2L soda bottles that's 8 - 15 lbs which is doable, especially on a short hike, and cups don't weigh much.

Well don't ask me! I'm still trying to figure out where the picnic tables are. Actually I'm going to go up and scout the area this evening and see if I can workout some of the logistics ahead of time.

The absolutely easiest thing would be to find out whose working the ranger station and then offer a swap. BBQ lunch for temp storage.

Its not bribery its bartering and the world goes around better because of it!
