Great job, you guys on RMRU are studs, 2 rescues in 8 hrs., in the cold & blizzard most of the night, bivy on the snow in the open!

Lance and I encountered this nice gentleman at about 10 K on our way down from the Miller Saddle -- he was following our snowshoe track. We warned him about the terrible visibility on the ridge. I was worried about him -- very glad he is OK.

Hi Ellen. We met Mr. Remi just below the summit, when were on our way back down. That was at about 1300. He had asked us for directions to the peak. Visibility at that point was probably around 50 yards. When we got back we let the Ranger know there was at least one other guy who should be coming in. Glad to hear he is ok.

Nice Steve, let's take a vacation to San Jac peak, spend a nice, warm, cozy night with hot coco in the Mt. cabin @ 10,500 ft., 15 degrees in 30+ mph winds that whip through the 4 inch slits between the roof & walls!

Gee, no bother looking out that foggy window at the view, you can't see crap anyway, even if the travel agent brochure had a cool photo.

Maybe we can bring up a solar panel & tv & watch the terrible B movie of Everest where they fight over the syringe of magic altitude juice!
Or at least Christmas Vacation, I miss John Candy!

booking for next good storm now. forget the tv, your eyeballs should be shaking to the point that you can't see. absolute fun...interested?

I still think those guys that took a late tram up, got shit-faced at the bar and then snow shoed to the hut in a full moon just to spend the night up there, had the right idea.

there was actually a third rescue that night. i don't know the particulars, just that it was on Ortega Hwy and was successful. "when it rains, it pours" doesn't just apply to salt.

First of all, I am so happy for him and his family that he even found the hut! I mean, there were people recently on this board saying they looked for it on the way down and couldn't even find it. In better conditions.

Second, I was just wondering Ellen is there a day that goes by that you are not on the summit? You saw him on your way down of course, the reverse would not be possible. Anyway, I speak from true jealousy!!

Thirdly, I have been up there in nightmare conditions and thought it would be fun. Not a good idea. I can empathize. Be careful up there. San G is safer!
