The first known ascent of Mt San Jacinto was made in 1874 by a party of five. John Muir climbed it in 1887

Thanks for the insight Cy. I was wondering:

Does that include any climb to the summit or are only certain routes part of the mix?

Is anyone currently active on San Jacinto anywhere near that 600 number?

Who would be in our top 5 or so active hikers?

I've got names for a few that are over 100 trips and believe there is one young lady with more than 200.

Anyone have a few more specifics?

Sorry about all the questions but its the problem with being an analyst. Once I start wondering about something I usually have to find out.

Cynthia - When Lee took 14 and a half hours on Skyline he took over 1000 pictures. http://leeland.shutterfly.com/

Walt - That history applies to the Devils Slide trail which was the first one. I have no idea who was the first one on Skyline, but it could have been Sid Davis who climbed San Jacinto 643 times mainly from the tram, and who took me up cactus to clouds in the early 60's. - Doreen Sabia and I both climbed Skyline over 200 times and so has a Wanda who used to manage the Golds Gym in Palm Springs. Andy Hollinger and Scott Scott both are in the 200 club.

Hi Magikwalt,
Saw the question about how many times someone has done skyline.
Last week I completed my 249 climb!!! I may or may not hit 250 this
Sat. Not sure just yet. May take a break and do it next weekend.

Ellen - I'ii see you on the trail tomorrow. I will be car pooling with Ted and Maria leaving San Bernadino around 1.30 am.
Doreen - Most of your maybe's turn out to be Skyline hikes

but I think you want to celebrate at the back to back bonanza.

This is crazy, but I'm sort of debating about maybe driving back to Palm Springs early Saturday, since the weather looks pretty good - so I may see you again Ellen if you're on the trail tomorrow :-)
