Conditions on Vivian Creek Trail

I'm planning on giving the Vivian Creek trail another try in the snow (day hike to summit). The last time I tried this I ran out of time at High Creek and had to turn around. The snow and ice started at around 8000 feet and was really mushy. Anyone been on this trail in the last week or so who can give me some intel? I'd like to do this before Christmas (13 December). I'm also looking for info on the trail parking (still open or not).
