HEY IDIOT !!

General Palm Springs area.

Hey Bluerail, you beat me to the post.
If anyone hiking Skyline notices any suspicious people or behavior, try & make a note, and tell the guys at the tram, or post on this board, so we can somehow track these yahoos down, there's way more us the good people on the trail to help stop this.

Regarding removal, a few of us have successfully removed prior markings, a few of us will use paint thinner & wire brush this wkend, sometimes just hard rubbing with another rock works, or, like Zip & others, a granite colored paint if needed.

If the folks who felt the need to deface this beautiful wilderness are reading this, there's really no need for this, these alternate trails are now easy to follow, and many of us keep an eye on the parking areas, foot prints, suspicious hikers, have direct contact with the rangers & tram folks, etc. Remember, there's only 2 ways up, or down this mt.

Please use common sense, courtesy & respect for the the area your still able to use & enjoy, (if your even able to enjoy yourself after doing this).

When you're up there this weekend, make sure you also kick over any ducks and take down any tree decorations, will ya?

Hey hal, dont make me come after you over my tree.

You needn't worry. I'll probably continue my avoidance of the Skyline for the foreseeable future.

Graffiti removal

Postby iSurfLowers » Sat Nov 20, 2010 10:28 am

I am a Cleveland National Forest trails volunteer (I mainly do dirt work on a few specific trails I took ownership of) and the ranger gave me “graffiti remover”. It works pretty good, as long as you have water and a wire brush.

I bet that if you made a call, they would arrange to have a bottle for you at a ranger station. They are always looking for help.

And yes, I think spray painting the idiot with his own can is perfect! How about spray painting an arrow on his chest pointing up, with the word “IDIOT” under it?

I took this clean-up project on in years past. I used a propane torch and a wire brush. The flame is very concentrated and can easily be focused as to not burn down the mountain. I preffered it to the chemical alternative.
