Howdy Lesper 4 :)

Congratulations!!! Especially for doing the full monty in less than ideal conditions. If it's any consolation, Skyline always kicks my butt
Most of my friends stopped at the tram and I felt the siren call of the bar, so it was just a C2B for me yesterday.

Did we meet on the trail?

Yes we did. Rod and I were at flat rock when Allison and Salley stopped to have a snack too and then you came by.

Having done:
Cucamonga peak in May
Vogelsang peak (4 days) in June
Mt Baldy in August
San Gergorino in September
and I ride my bike 75 mile each week
Skyline was deffinitly the toughest.

I also met Dave and I think Robert? in the dark that morning. Robert summited right after us.

P.S. I dont think they invented switch back when skyline was built as many parts of the trail basically go straight up the mountain. You know it is steep when 10' in fornt of you is actually higher then your head.

That is hilarious, thanks 8)

I thought it may have been you and Rod with Sally and Allison at Flat Rock. You introduced yourself but I don't recall your name  I'm going to blame my brain cramp on the maddening Never Ending Ridge (5 K to Flat Rock) and those damn switchbacks (Flat Rock to Grubbs Notch).

Robert has greater fortitude than I -- he joined us at the tram for a fuel break and then headed back out to summit. Once I'm at the tram, that's it, I'm done

Howdy All,

"Zen and Art of Hiking Skyline."

After feeling like carp last Sunday, my goal was to thoroughly enjoy the day and I did 8)

I love the smell of the desert earth and plants right after it rains. It was very humid but not too warm. The moisture in the air put a ring of light around the full moon. Kathryn and I encountered a first time Skyliner (Ed?) right after the down hill section and stayed with him until the warning sign. Picked up trash (mostly sports bar wrappers) along the way.

Met Sally and her daughter Allison at Flat Rock, as well as Lesper4 and Don. Ran into Mark and Robert at Grubbs Notch. Sally, Allison, Mark, Kathryn, Robert and I hung out for a bit at the tram and then shared a cab back to the museum (Robert summited). We just missed going down with Karin and Deanna. Ran into Doreen the Skyline Queen at the museum as we were heading to our cars -- talk about timing.

Another wonderful day in the wilderness -- thanks San Jacinto and friends.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

I agree, Ellen, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day on San Jacinto! This was my fourth Skyline and 2nd C2C and definitely one of the best for me!

It was a delight hanging out with familiar friends in the bar and meeting lots of new people on the trail - Ed, Dave, Sally and Allison, Loren and Rod (congratulations on your first C2C - it was great seeing you guys all the way up to the summit).

Now that I'm living in Colorado I'll probably only get to do Skyline maybe once or twice a year but I have great memories with this one. I also shot a lot of video with my HD Handycam and will see if I can edit something coherent when I get back home and maybe post it on YouTube or someplace.
