Roll Call: Skyline / C2C Sunday 10.24.10

Postby lesper4 » Mon Oct 18, 2010 10:31 am

I have some freinds (4 total) will be starting out at the bottom at 4am. I am trying to convince my other friends to meet me at the top for the rest of the trip. This will be the frist time any of us have started at the bottom.

With all this rain (sprinkles) do you think the trail at the top will be wet at all? I would think the lower part will be bone dry by then. Any chance the views will be unobstructued on Sunday?

Howdy Lesper4,

I'm planning on heading up Skyline Sunday October 24th as well. I'm tempted to head up the tram later in the week to check out the upper section on Skyline (the traverse) to make sure it is free of ice.

The weather report for the summit of San Jacinto predicts a 50-70% chance of snow through this week. I don't really want to carry crampons or snowshoes up Skyline for a summit bid.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Hi Lesper4 and Ellen,
I'm planning to be on Skyline too on Sunday, Oct. 24th. I sure hope we don't get ice on the traverse - do let us know, Ellen, if you head up there this week!

I'll probably be taking a fairly leisurely pace - 6 or 7 hours on Skyline and taking lots of pictures. I'm aiming for maybe 4:30 AM from the art museum, but might still adjust that.

I've been looking forward to this for months, but I'll be in SoCal for a couple weeks if the conditions turn out to be bad that day. Hope to see you again, Ellen, and some of the regulars on the trail!

Ellan, where are you getting the weather forcast for the top. The best i can do is www.noaa.org which gives weather at a specific elevation but says nothing of snow. I expect it to be cold but i wasnt expecting ice.

I plan on doing Skyline or C2C on Sunday if conditions are good. I'll probably want to start between 3:00 and 4:00.

Howdy All :)

I'll be out on Sunday the 24th as well. Robert is coming out for Skyline and I'd like to see him again. Can't go Saturday due to work.

Sally -- can you short rope me up on Sunday

Here's the link for the summit of San Jacinto:

Learning forward to Speedy Steve's report of conditions on Skyline when the Dynamic Duo goes up later this week.

Yes, indeed, I'll be out there on Sunday, the 24th. Really looking forward to seeing you again, Ellen, and hope to see you on the trail, Sally, at some point, and Loren and your friends, and hey, anyone else who's out there!

It looks like the weather report is looking pretty good for the weekend, fingers crossed...

Yeah the weather is looking great. We are leaving the IE around 2ish. Should be long sleeve long pants weather all day. Should cut down on water consumption but i still wont bring any less then originally planned.
