A friend and I tackled Marion Mountain Trail to Mt. San Jacinto Peak on 10/13/10. A woman we met just as she was leaving the summit mentioned we were some of the first people she had encountered that day. She also said she had recently hiked Cactus to Clouds.

A google search for the term resulted in numerous sites on the subject, all of which recommended finding an experienced person or group to travel with. Another google led me here.

I'll be lurking soaking up the abundant knowledge and hopefully signing up for a C2C run before the season is over. Thank you for providing this helpful site!

Hi jasinner,
Welcome! The woman you met was most likely me. Did one of you guys have a big hiking stick? I met a couple of guys coming up from Marion Mtn Trail right up by the peak. One of them was about finished and I told him not to worry, that he was practically there.

Congratulations on your successful hike up Marion Mtn. Trail. Next to C2C it is the steepest trail to the Peak.

Wow, yes I was the stick guy. My friend commented later on how remarkably un-tired you looked. Thanks for the welcome!
