Thanks for the photos. Those are nice views.

I drove through Utah this August and saw just a tiny bit of what there is to see. Mainly just Zion and Bryce. I did not have time to take a thorough tour. A person could take many weeks to see it all.

I'm taken by the saturation and latitude of your images. Did you do any post-processing or are they right from the camera?
What camera are you using?

I still use an 8 year old Canon Powershot s230 3.2 megapixel.
The metering is whacked so I have to take several photos to get the right levels.

I use a Nikon D90 w/18-105 lens & Nikon NX2 editing software which is all new to me. I don't do much editing, mostly just adjust the light & dark levels using the double threshold & on one or two pics I think I blued the sky a bit otherwise all the colors are real. You need to go past the crowds of zion & bryce to really enjoy the beauty of the south utah desert (& north AZ). I've been going there at least once every year since 1990 & going back in february to the grand canyon parashant NM on the north rim. If you ever need suggestions on where to go, please ask...I have plenty of pics of places from zion to moad & beyond.

Awesome photos there recordalley, and thanks for the crash course in geology. It always amazed me what a distinct time-line has been created in those layers of sandstone and how a top layer in one region is a bottom layer in another and so on.....for hundreds of miles! When we were on a route in Zion a few years ago, one of the exposed layers was covered with dinosaur tracks. Literally a page of history. Glad you had a great trip and thanks again for sharing.

Nice pictures. Did you photoshop some of them to bring out the colors?
