briefing on proposed blm-indian land swap

ur invited to a briefing from concerned hikers re the proposed land swap. 3:00 pm, tuesday, oct 12, 1629 s riverside dr, palm springs. sorry for the short notice! there will be other briefings as we rally, but this one is particularly important given that the deadline for public comment is oct 15 at present. (there is a request underway to extend the period.) come to the meeting and learn what you can do to keep hiking capability a high priority. call 760 218 8502 for directions to the meeting.

We can thank congresswomen Bono-Mack, who contacted Ken Salazar, sec of interior a couple days ago, to request this, who probably contacted the BLM. I'd imagine others have contacted the BLM as well, including Ken Garrett from Deseet Trails Coalition & the CV Hiking club who send a well written 6 page letter off.

The BLM t now realizes there's a growing force who are not in agreement with this proposal. See the other thread on this.

Bono-Macks office called to inform me that they were also concerned that the public felt inadequate time & info had been given, thanks to many letters & calls from many of us.

Thanks to those who have taken action, let's keep up the campaign & pressure, and if & when public comment & meetings take place, let the agencies know how we feel.
