C2C2C-Saturday October 9th

General Palm Springs area.

SD: The weather is shaping up pretty nice, the low Friday night is now predicted to be 63. Still warm Saturday afternoon - 89 in the shade, so hotter than that in the sun on Skyline, but I'm bettin' you guys are fine. I'm thinking of maybe just a single C2C, then either to the Tram Bar or Maracas down on the boulevard. I hope to see you along the way - maybe timing it to try and hit the peak about 9:30, same as you guys. I may not be accurate hitting the time, though, as I've done Skyline and I've done the peak, both regularly, but never together as a C2C, so it'll be a guess.

Anyway, I wonder who else is going?

Howdy All :)

I'm in for a Skyline and hopefully for C2C. I have no desire to go down Skyline and I'm still sore from descending Whitney.

Will post start time as the weekend approaches.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

hey Z...yes the weather should be fine. it said a couple days ago the high saturday would be 97 and i checked again today and now it says 94...so headed in the right direction anyway :D

There are a lot of folks that will be on the trail but some people are just doing skyline, some are doing C2C only and then others are doing the full C2C2C.

I look forward to seeing some of you again out on the trail and meeting some new faces too.

Due to a sudden personal schedule conflict I had to bail on plans for the C2C2C attempt this coming Saturday, October 9. My friend and I are going to try change plans to do this one week later on Saturday, October 16.

[quote="drndr"]Thanks HJ for the map description. Would you say it shaves about 1 to 1.5 miles off each direction, changing an 11 mile hike into a 8-9 miler? I may stick to the main trail unless I run into someone with experience. Won't want to waste time route finding this time out.

I think that route only saves time when there's snow on the ground.

reading all the postings i wonder what kind of shape your in. hiking or running the sand to summit route is challenging, yet fun. wondering why you people rely on the tram so much. i've done this route hundreds of times and not once used the tram or their facilities. this c2c2c you speak of, are you starting down in indian wells where sea level is, or is it just a play on words? the cross country routes that've been posted have been done many times.....some don't need to boast of the ego's exploits. san j is alot of fun whether it be via the north face, ridge routes, or simply from any of the westside trailheads. have any of you done it from hwy 74 to the i-10...in a day???

Just curious, is the water that is available at the long valley floor at the station (i.e. tap water) or a creek (aka needs a pump)?

As for the psot of above doesnt the number or rescues etc. speak for the trail itself?

Looks like it will be too warm for my liking. Please exercise sound judgement, y'all.

Hopefully, I will be joining in when it cools off. But I will be taking the tram down.

Amen to that.

A bit of candid bragging:

from a guy who professes to reject bragging:
desertclimber wrote:some don't need to boast of the ego's exploits
and thinks that everyone else is a wimp:

I like the fact that people post a lot on this board about doing things they love to do. Relax and join the fun. Maybe you really are tougher than everyone else. Who cares? Relax and join the fun.
