OK, Zip, you tease, cough it up. What's the "secret spot" for good eats in Yucaipa? (other than your kitchen I mean) :)

If you're up for a tasty "put you to sleep" burrito, I'd say Rosie's fits the bill.

Rosies is good. I like your description, too - heavy food puts me to sleep after a good outing.

As far as the food, I like La Mexicana (down by the freeway) even better, and I like Thai Chili (just a couple of miles up the freeway) best of all. They have food that goes from mild (Geiko, not spicy, but delicious) to wild (Padkemau, Thai style, extra hot!) and I'm always happy with what I get.

My last thought on post-hike chow: Anything is better than a Cliff bar.

Gatorade and beef jerky for the ride home :D

But when I am far from home after a long hike I try to reward myself with a substantial dinner like a good filet min'on and a baked potato. Hard to find even in a city. Surprisingly there are a couple places in Lone Pine that can serve a decent meal... the Merry-Go-Round, and Seasons.
After that, a soak in the jacuzzi at the Dow Villa. Particularly nice if you can get back to town before sundown, which is hard to do on a full summit hike, then you can relax your muscles in full view of the mountain and contemplate your journey.

The one time I missed my post-hike celebration was after the MR on Whitney. I ran out of food when I reached summit at 3 pm. I made it back to town at 10:30pm after everything was closed and I was beat. My next meal was noon the next day. Not good for starving muscles.
Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread but the thought of post-hike food got me going.

Oh, and if you are ever in Jackson Hole, Wyo check out The Gun Barrel.
