Reminder to Skyline hikers .. TRAMWAY CLOSED

Postby Florian » Sun Sep 12, 2010 7:27 am

Reminder to any potential Skyline hikers that the tramway will be closed Monday, 9/13, through Friday, 9/24. Tram website says tentatively reopening Saturday, 9/25. Anyone planning a hike and wanting a ride down on the tram after the closure should call and check that the tram has reopened as scheduled prior to your hike .. 888-515-TRAM.

I'm thinking to print a notice and tape it to the warning sign at the bottom of the trail.

Reminder to Skyline hikers - TRAMWAY CLOSED

Postby Cy Kaicener » Sun Sep 12, 2010 7:47 am

A TRAMWAY CLOSED sign attached to the Warning Sign is a great idea. 8)
I remember about ten years age a hiker reached the tram when it was closed for maintenance and tried to go back to his car the same way. He started a forest fire when he tried a signal fire to get help.

 It's the afternoon before the tram shuts down. I could theoretically make that 9:45 tramcar tonight...

(just kidding)

And there are two brand new fully stocked rescue boxes on the trail too!

Wow Florian! For such a kick-back, enjoyable guy, you post a pretty mean sign! I thought it was going to end with, "This means you, #%$#$%!" Still, I'd appreciate the waive-off if I were expecting the tram to be running and was just about to head on up.

bluerail: you and Fern doing any recon on the psmp boxes during the next couple of weeks?
