Tram closure

Postby Nick-SJM » Tue Aug 24, 2010 6:47 am

The tram will be closed for it's annual maintenance from September 13 through October 1.
It would not be a good thing to plan a Skyline or Snow Creek hike during this period. Unless of course you also like hiking down.

What do you have against hiking down? Didn't I recently read some accounts on this message board of people actually climbing the north face prior to 1963?

It hurts..... my ass. I'm thinking of wearing crampons for my next trip down.

Be careful where you step. I imagine there will be a few people in flip-flops on the tram.

Indeed. Went to SJ peak via Deer Springs trail last week. Still plenty of water on the west side of the mountain above 8K, and even a few Lemon Lillies still in bloom.

DSSAR GUY....it's funny you should mention wearing your crampons going down, we have done one slope in particular that is steep to the point that I have actually put on my crampons (no snow) to make it easier to climb.

felt kinda weird, but it definetly helped.
