i saw that Meetup post. bummer. i will never take SC lightly. it is the Ba$ta&d of all climbs. personally, i would put this up there like hiking 14'er like Tyndall or Middle Pal in a day. not too many can do that successfully and hence not too many should be attempting SC. don't know that i am ready and with my recent (today) fail of Tyndall, in fact, it's clear i am not. yet.

Norma, if I may ask, what happened on Tyndall?

damn, sucks about not summiting, but the mountain will still be there.

I think SC was tougher than Tyndall, in my experience

Hey Ze,
Your right, it's a fine line posting extreme tr's online, Skyline, (although much "easier" than SC) is a good example, (2 more rescue's in the last couple weeks.
I've done SC in spring as an overnight, and have talked extensively with Bluerail about this climb in summer, but, like Norma & a few others, I take it very seriously.

The ol disclaimers, warnings, "don't attempt unless you have mountaineering experiences & are uber-fit", sometimes can have the opposite effect unfortunately!

In my opinion, to post & organize publicly a climb as severe as this is just a very bad idea. Hopefully this won't happen.

yea Scott, I agree, and to tell you the truth,
there honestly is not anything fun about doing it. It's a real hell, and there are so many other beautiful and much more enjoyable trips I'd rather be able to go do.

btw Ze, I'm really glad you added the "edit" to your TR, and I hope people look at it.

Steve,
I'm sure there's some college grad who would love to do their thesis on you & Fern, although it would have to be something to do with.....The things we do to stay....sane????

I'm sure they could write volumes!!

PS, good edit Ze re. your TR, maybe people will take this to heart & ponder heavily before considering this climb.

This is a terrific trip. What are your thoughts about coming down this way? Is it too steep?

why in the world would you come down ? theres a tram. and if your doing it to be able to see the snow, and feeling like it would be easier.... I would'nt do it. There are places where coming down will be much harder than climbing up, and in any case, I imagine the snow and ice show is coming to an end. I was in there 3 weeks ago and it was finishing up.
