Desert Angel fire

Hiked from tramway to SJ and back today. Nice day hiking. When i got down i stopped to watch the final stages of a small brush fire just north of Chino Canyon. Got a pretty good picture of the big super siphon helicopter doing a water drop ..

I'm a volunteer lookout for the Forest Service and was working at Tahquitz Peak on Sunday. I heard the response on the radio and had a bearing on the fire, but no visual. The firefighters referred to the area as "Angel Canyon" which I had never heard of and cannot locate on the SBNF map. Is this east of Chino Canyon? How far south of Hwy 111?

The fire was just north of Chino Canyon. There is a rock formation at the top of the drainage known as Desert Angel. Kind of looks like an angel with wings outstretched. If you look at my photo on flickr i noted the angel.

I'm sending you a PM re Tahquitz Peak lookout.
