Well said. That's what I was getting at. Bravado is a good thing, but it can get you killed when you're confronting Mother Nature. Mother Nature is not a human opponent who can be intimidated with bravado or overcome by determined human will. Know your opponent.Lcpl Hughes wrote:Since I was in both the Army and the Marine Corps Infantry..I would definitely say that the Marines are generally in better shape..Also agree on the mentality thing, lots of over confidence going on in the Marine Corps, it is just the way they are trained..with a mentality that nothing is too hard and can be overcome..but I am sure skyline humbled them pretty good![]()
That sounds like the one I'm talking about. Jason Rother was the marine's name. He never lost his weapon. Good marine; bad commander. I was an Army lieutenant at the time. I remember thinking that the coward who counted him as "present" on the roles while he was missing should be subjected to courts-martial and a bad conduct discharge as well as doing time in a military prison.Lcpl Hughes wrote:As for the story about the Marine that was left behind out in 29 Palms and died..I dont know if that happened again recently, but they were telling that story when I was stationed out there 17 years ago..
