It was the guide that took me up mt. hood. the timing was perfect for him as he needed to put some hours under his belt to go towards his guide certification program. i didn't know its like 20k and x amount of hours to become certified. i took care of the costs of the trip and he guided me up, it was a win win situation.

BTW, Rick Kent did Rainier in a day (17 hours) this past Sunday. This will be my goal next year, day hike Rainier, try to do a loop.

Congrads Tina! Darija and I contemplated a loop up the Kautz and down the DC but decided to go for the quickest option and just stuck to the DC. The weather on the summit of Rainier on Sunday when we summited was superb. The crevasses seemed a bit more intimidating on the way down however given our late descent and the soft snow.
