Water in Round Valley

Postby robpollard » Tue Jun 05, 2007 12:32 pm

Time for a trip up to San Jacinto with my boys, and I was wondering if there is still water at Round Valley. Does anyone know if the spigot is still flowing? I plan on being up there the 18th and 19th.

I chatted with a friend of mine and he said the spigot is still flowing as of this past weekend.

You won't need to bring energy gels either, since you get free rat protein from the decomposing rats inside the water source! Now, if I can just find an old, black piece of fruit for carbs...

Now I know I need to use AquaClear on it but if you're serious I might have to become a vegan. What the scoop here guys? Zippety - Perry anyone?? Are there dead things in the water??

Sorry, in retrospect, that was kind of a gross post. All my knowledge of rats and Round Valley plumbing come from this website, but I have no firsthand experience with the Round Valley Rats. Perhaps Perry knows the full story. It's the only water I don't drink on the mountain - I'll drink from streams, but not there. Ew.

Thanks for the replies guys. I wasn't sure with this dry year what to expect.

Rats? Ew is right. I bring a filter and filter the water (actually my boys do the work - they're scouts - while I make up excuses about my back or something), so I'm choosing to believe that gets it all. At least its cold.

It was flowing this evening. I used iodine tablets. :D

Sometime this summer I'll change it so that everything is www.mtsanjacinto.info I'll upgrade my web hosting a little, then set up a virtual domain. Less confusion that way.

Just got back from Round Valley. There is a little bit of water there. Here is a shot of the spigot

edit: if that's not the most useless shot ever, I don't know what is. I'll try and fix it.
