C2C - July 24th

General Palm Springs area.

If you're meeting people that are coming up the tram you might enjoy coming up from Idyllwild via Humber Park and exploring the Tahquitz valley area. Then take the Willow Creek trail up to Long Valley to meet your tramway group. You can camp in the Round Valley or Tamarack Valley and climb the peak together the next day.

The avatar is just a funny picture from a Japanese photo / game thing in an arcade in Tokyo. We couldn't figure out how to play the game so a couple Japanese teenie-boppers finished it and wrote all the funny qoutes on the pictures. Just one of those photos that cracks me up when I see it, so, heck, why not an avatar :)

Anyhow, thanks for all the recommendations. We are excited about the trip and glad that we won't be totally miserable in the heat.

I'm with Florian on going through Tahquitz valley. that isn't the Marion side...but man is it beautiful right now. and if you were looking for a little more, going up Tahquitz to the fire tower gives you some great scenery, and a wonderful trail.

hey zip...wanna buy a knife ?

and why dont you ask boone, why Oak and Alder ? that one got my curiosity.

Tahquitz valley

Hmm - I'm having a little trouble finding more info on that one: Tahquitz valley. Does this also lead up to the tram at some point? Looks like it's a peak as well?

From what I gather this starts at the Devil's Slide TH? Any additional help would be great.

blurail - the Oak and Alder is actually my business name - named it after CA trees that I liked....

Thanks everyone!

By Tahquitz Valley i mean the general area east of Saddle Junction. Lovely meadows and water in Tahquitz and Willow Creek.

I put a copy of the San Jacinto tail map here ► http://stargazing.com/pub/MtSanJacintoSPmap.pdf

From the map you can see if you go north from Laws Camp or from Willow Creek Crossing you cross over Hidden Divide to Long Valley and the mtn tram station where your friends will be waiting!
