I've always been baffled by that. How can anyone who's ever ridden the tram think that it's going to be easy to do the same journey on foot?
I think that a 4000' foot gain hike is a pretty good hike. If I recall correctly going up the Devils Slide or Marion Mtn trails to the top is in the 4000' gain range. To me, those are pretty solid hikes. When someone starts talking
double that, I'm not thinking that's going to be a walk in the park. Then add in 100+ degree heat?

You've got to be kidding. The only hike I want to take in 100+ degree heat is to the refrigerator for something cold to drink!
