A search and rescue team from the Palm Springs Police Department used a helicopter to rescue a hiker on the Cactus to Clouds trail on Friday, police said.

I heard he had done C2C and was coming down Skyline, the rest of the group opted for the tram down.

Interesting the Desert Sun article said he used a UHF radio to call for help.

Just that most people don't carry two-way radios. Usually it's a 911 call via cellphone. I wonder if he used one of those small unlicensed FRS walkie-talkies that you sometimes see groups using to keep in touch.
