Just after quake today. Plume was initially much larger, but diminished after run to get camera. Awesome. I live just across 111.

Wow! Cool post...no doubt Steve and Fern will be up there to check it out in person! Must have been big to create that much of a plume, but then, the EQ was pretty strong.

we left the parking lot at 4 yesterday afternoon, we were somewhere around 2000 -2500' when we noticed what looked like a fire up ahead of us. we were wondering if we were going to get up only to find we had no ride down. we never felt the quake while we were on the trail, but friends got in touch with us and let us know what had happened and that it was probably a slide, not a fire. after 4000 we noticed the tram still running, so we relaxed. slide wasnt in Chino, but to the east of it. we were unable to see any signs of it anywhere but it must have been a good one. Tram was running fine.

got your message zip, i'll try calling you this afternoon after 3

btw...great picture !

Nice picture, thanks for sharing. Were you tipped off about the quake ahead of time or just that prepared?
