how could you be lost 3 miles up ?

I could, however, imagine being 3 miles up at 5pm and feeling like I had made a huge mistake. thats not far enough up to be in the shade yet. we've been 3 miles up at 5pm and it's frickin ugly hot.

I forgot to mention how nice Carumba is right now, tons of water and just absolutely beautiful.

Has nothing to do with being lost...I know.

I get it Steve...you'd rather be lost near Carumba than on Skyline

Curious... what route did you take there and how's the condition of the trail?

That's only a kinda sorta rescue. Couldn't the dispatch have said, "Oh, I see, you're about 3 miles up? Okay, you are cleared to turn around and walk back down."

I don't really get it.

So Steve, how's the flow up at Caramba? I would think it's really good this year.

The water is amazing there right now, a little hot goin in and out but icy cold liquid snow while your there. The trail is completely clear...except for some bugs

and I would rather be on skyline than most places...and I have no idea how you would get lost on skyline when the trails clear...all you have to do is pay attention to Perrys arrow and go uphill just before Coffmans

The 2 kids were found around 5k ft elevation level. Since they started skyline at 1am thursday morning they were out of water and food by friday morning. RMRU and DSSAR got them to the desert floor around 5am. RMRU traveled all the way down skyline that night. I haven't slept for more then 35 hours now, good night =P.
