Little Round Valley clear/soggy?

A dozen boy scouts from our troop are starting at the Fuller Rige trailhead on June 12 and plan to camp at Little Round valley that night. Has anyone been there last weekend? If it's snowy or clear that's great, but it's when it is in between that it gets soggy and miserable. I saw hvydrt's photo from the wilderness boundry near Castle Rocks, are crampons necessary to get up Deer Springs trail from the PCT to Little Round Valley?

I was up there today and there is tons of snow still. I doubt it will be melted enough to not carry protection
