Yippie! My boss gave me Saturday off, so I'm back in again. I will be starting at midnight or so, in the tortoise division. Looking forward to meeting those of you whom I've never met before, and seeing the rest of you again.

Lcpl Hughes: At 8500' at 7:00 a.m., even if it's at ambient temperature, that beer will be about 40 degrees. There are snow patches along the way, so you could always ice it if you felt like it, but I doubt you'll need to.

Everyone: So, if we start around midnight, we're going to get up there extremely early...any thoughts on this?

I was thinking about this too. I'm slower than many hikers on this forum but if i push starting at midnight i would finish a couple hours before the tram opens. I don't like cold so have no desire to arrive before the tram station is open. My plan is to just hike easy, visit with people, enjoy the views, restock the water cache at 5700', and generally take my time. I've never done the trail in the dark, except for the very beginning, and i just want to savor it knowing there is no rush. I even bought a new headlamp for the occasion!

It's a much better hike without the headlamp Florian. I hope you guys have a good time, really sorry I had to change my plans and backout.
