About tomorrow - Michael Mojarro posted this on the San G board:
Didnt think id have to be posting anything on snowfall so close to summer but here it is folks. A rare almost unheard of winter storm is currently taking aim on the wilderness and will bring snow showers late tonight through the day Sunday with also the chance of a few snow thunderstorms. This unusual system has cold air that we would usually see in January with snow levels expected to fall to 4000 feet or lower sometime tomorrow. Since it is May and the ground has been warming for a while and we do have strong May sun rays any accumulation will be limited but a couple inches certainly could fall in a few spots especially on the north slopes above 8000 feet. Winds which have already gusted over 60mph today in the mountains will continue through tomorrow. Overall this storm is not strong for mid winter standards but its very strong for a May storm and very cold and all hikers need to take warning of the incoming winter weather Sunday. Nightime temps Sunday night may drop into the lower 10s in the colder valleys above 8000 feet.
Ellen, I know this is your kind of weather! How much fun would that be, to have it lightly snowing on you as you top out on Skyline - at the end of May.
Goat, Ellen's exactly right - the snow presents no problem whatsoever (right now, anyway).
If either of you go, I hope you'll post a TR!
