Rescued hikers ...

http://www.mydesert.com/article/20100512/NEWS01/100512011/Two+lost+hikers+rescued+from+San+Jacinto+Mountains

It says this guy was hiking from the lower tram station to the upper one. I have read of others on this route(?), has anyone here attempted (or completed) it? For the record, I am not interested in trying.

The geography seems off. Going from the bottom
Tram station to the top will not put you anywhere near Willow Creek, the area the article says the rescue took place in.

Rescued Hikers

I have not heard of any trails from the lower tram station to the upper one. It would be a serious technical climb. It sounds like it was above the upper station or somewhat close to it.

Newspapers. How come it seems that almost every time I read about something I actually have some knowledge about, the paper is incorrect?

They were probably on Skyline. Willow Creek sounds like a red herring unless they really got off track.

Freaking clueless journalists. (Hi, Tina) ;)

Well Willow Creek drains into Tahquitz Creek. Could they have been coming up that old trail? But 2 separate hikers on that very rarely used route, and they got lost at the top?
