Marijuana & Snow Creek

In 2004, 35-45 million dollars worth of marijuana plants were seized from the West Fork of Snow Creek. Here is an article about it.

There was another huge seizure of marijuana in 2008. Here is an interesting quote from the article: "Forest Service officials were tipped off to the plantations when the Desert Water Agency in Snow Creek reported increased levels of human fecal matter at their treatment center."

The DWA had a real bad time because for a while a good stretch of pipe was above ground. You guessed it. it suffered from steel jacketed lead poisoning on multiple weekends. Going to work I many times saw sprays of water in the desert. I supposed it is covered now.

If it were legal, this kind of stuff wouldn't be happening because the price of marijuana would be so cheap that it would not be profitable to grow in the wilderness. Now the alcohol, tobacco, and pharmaceutical industries wouldn't like that because it would be a competing product at a lower price.

btw Perry...at 8200' yesterday, Fern and I narrowly missed being plowed by an avalanche that was 4 feet tall at the front and lasted almost 5 full minutes...what an incredible thing to witness..I am still stunned.
