Sometime when the weather is cool and the trail is clear of snow, I'll give it a shot, but it will take me 17 to 20 hours to do it.

Kathy, let me know when you do this, i would contemplate going with ya.

so, a double would be 62 miles with 22,000' of gain and 22,000' of loss... interesting day out...?

Unless you run at some point it cannot be done in a "single day" or 24 hour period, to many miles. If you can, you're not human. :D

The 22000 loss isn't going to be pretty. Better off just doing Skyline, so that your joints let you go play the next day, and the next... instead of sitting home with swollen knees and aching feet. When we did the multiple Skylines last year, my joints weren't sore at all. I love the tram!

This is one of the few places in the world where we have such a perfect set up. Have you thought of skipping the downhill and doing extra uphill? Tina and I (and several other regulars as well) had the same experience - no soreness even with a ton of uphill. Makes for a fun adventure.

I've done 50 miles with 18,000' up/down last year... it was just a matter of proper training... I'd like to up the mark this year to celebrate turning 60... world record is a bit over 100 miles with 33,000' up/down... that guy was young and resilient...

Wow, do you have a link? I'd like to read more about this.

No, I just noticed that a guy finished Hardrock in under 24 hours... and they attribute that 100 miler to having 33,000'... not sure how closely anyone has checked that course, but it is likely in the ballpark. So, sort of got to give that effort the record... there used to be a guy that would do multiples on Mt. Shasta, but he skied down, so does not really apply...
