Jo Pond Trail

Postby Matt421 » Mon Mar 08, 2010 4:07 pm

I'm planning a hike on the Jo Pond Trail down to the Trading Post. Does anyone know if there is any snow on that trail. I'm coming from Michigan so I've had enough snow. I would like to hike it in the next week or so.

Jo Pond might still have a little snow up around Cedar Springs, another great hike that would be snow free already is Palm Canyon from hwy.74 to the trading post..really a great hike

Steve,

I have a couple of days off at the end of this week and next week.

I would like to hike Palm Canyon one of those days, either from the bottom up or yo - yo from the top.

Tell me if you are interested

Yes,

Maybe next Wed - Thurs or Fri. 3/ 17-19

I have some vacation days I need to take. It has been a long time since I have been to Palm Canyon. It should be in great condition right now.

Hiking would be great.--(hiking with you or Zip is running)

Matt, you'll be hiking down to the trading post? I've never hiked Jo Pond all the way through but i might be interested in going up the trail next week. Maybe we could work out some sort of vehicle swap where you get my truck at the bottom and i drive your vehicle down from the top? Do you have transportation to/from the trailheads?

Yes, I've got someone to drop me off up top and pick me up at the bottom. Matt.

Any interest in hiking Palm Canyon Wed or Thurs of Friday, Anyone?

I am not sure what time the gates open below.

Logistically (car wise-- starting time etc) it is easier for me to start at the top,

I just have to convince my legs it was a good idea during the uphill portion at the end of the day --j/k

Hiked up from Morris Ranch Rd today and down to the Trading Post. Had some snow on the trail from the pct to a little beyond Cedar Spring. Someone had left some prints in the snow so the trail was easy to follow. Awesome hike. It took us just under 7 hours. However I'm a little sick of switchbacks right now.
