That "Avalanche Area" sign didn't bother you?

Great pics...have you started a midweek tradition there? By the way, it sure looks like you've lost your fear of the cold weather adventures!

Z it should be noted that they(Mt Baldy Ski Area Patrol and Company) want all "Skiers" to stay inbounds and that sign is to deter people from Skiing outside the ropes. The snow over there is fairly consolidated (was up to Telegraph Peak today) - there was one small section behind Thunder Mountain (about a 1/4 mile north of the highest spot) on the steepest slope facing Stockton Flat that had about 100 yards of snow that did run out at the botton. But snow can Avalance at anytime so it should be noted that it can happen - three people died last year by going outside the ropes in the Wrightwood area but that was the day after the 2+ feet fell ontop of snow that was already there and they cause the slide themselves and a fourth person lived. :( Also note that Taco and company were cutting across the Sky Area's boundry on their way to do Telegraph :D

I don't know much about avalanches, so the sign looked spooky to me. I imagine the chances are extremely low of actually getting caught in one, and most of us are not prone to turn around once we start on an adventure. If we were, then none of us would ever have gotten farther than the "Death Sign" on Skyline!

Sure looks like a great adventure - just the Fernantics would have made it worth the trip!

You could buy them at any Party City.

Patrick - I think he meant the sign entering Big Butch Wash.
