Thanks Tina. A little boring for you veterans, but quite exciting for us rookies!

Yeah, it adds up if you meander. In the link you posted, the track wanders around a lot near the ranger station and tram. Here is my track from Saturday: Image

Hi Biletchick. It was good meeting you and Curt. Wow, long day, huh? As you do a few more expeditions in the snow it gets a bit easier, but the section where I ran into you two is a toughy - there's no quick or easy way to do that part. You did it just right...and even so it seems to take forever.

Strange events there in the tram station! I agree with you - if anyone should have to wait, it should be the noisy drunks. I say let them cool their heels until after the last car - they'll be sober by then, and no one else gets inconvenienced but the ones causing the problem.

In any case, great job on your trip! Hope to see you up there again soon, or maybe over on San Gorgonio, since you're now winter travel veterans...

Thanks Z-D

I honestly think that if we hadn't run into you, we would have quit. When you said the worst was almost over, we kind of got a boost! Thanks for that, it really helped.

I think we'll try Gorgonio next. I looked at the Harrison map for the area that you mentioned. It looks interesting with several possibilities there. Is it ok to PM you with questions when we decide to go up?
Thanks,
Stacy

Howdy Stacy :)

Congratulations!!! There is nothing like your first winter ascent of a peak, especially the beautiful Mt. San Jacinto.

My only regret is that it was so hot for you. Karin, Kathryn, Joe and I struggled on Saturday. As we were heading up Miller saddle, I would go four or five steps, then stop, lean on my poles, and wipe my face before starting again. It was tempting to stay at the summit and take a nap. However, Craig had warned us to head down by 3 PM to beat the crush. I am so sorry that the end of your excellent adventure was marred by belligerent drunks.

I told Laura last night that you had dedicated this hike to her and she was very touched.

Look forward to seeing you on the trails 8)

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Thanks Ellen! It was our first ascent of a peak...period, winter or otherwise. We really enjoyed it even with the heat. I think the fact that we were in black Smartwool long sleeves and black softshell pants might have made it a little bit more uncomfortable... :P
It's funny that you were doing the same thing with the "stop and go" method. Does that mean that you really are human?

I read your TR about your "incident" in '08...WOW what an incredible story. I really admire your courage and determination. Kudos to you for getting "back on the bicycle" again.
We had hoped to see you out there to say HI, but we figured that you might have run over to tag Jean then head back.
I'm glad you guys missed the drama at the tram, it really was ridiculous.
See ya out there,
Stacy
ps Laura is one in a million.
We are very fortunate to have her in our lives.

Congratulations Stacy and Curt on your first winter summit. I am sure it is just the first of many more that are in your future :)

Nice TR, great photos, thank you for sharing!

Thanks Tracie. You made it back ok? How was Yosemite? How's the hand?
The hike wasn't too bad...after the fact, of course. It was pretty steep on the route we took, so we just took it REALLY slow. You would have loved the tram incident...wish you could have been there to join in the ruckus!
Stacy
ps I told you not to worry about the postage thing...but thank you.
