Have fun today Brent!

I talked to Laura for a while yesterday...she's heading out for a nice long weekend...maybe a little overnight solo hike...NICE!

I think Curt and I will be up there snowshoeing tomorrow (first tram). We're going to aim for the summit..it would be our first.
Not a "have to" just a try. We really enjoy being out there.
Take care,
Stacy

I'm planning on going up Sunday if I can find a buddy. I have to work Saturday. If anyone out there would be willing to let me join them I would be greatful. I would like to try for the peak, but anything will do. Can't wait to try out my new 'shoes!

Have fun, all you guys going up tomorrow!

Have fun tomorrow everyone. Expect breakable crust in the morning and wet, heavy, sloppy, grabby breakable crust in the afternoon. The trail up the sid davis route is really nice though.

I did two laps today... first run was from the summit of San J down to the tamarack camp area, then the second run was from just below the summit directly down the east face of San J. There were some small wet slides evident, but nothing major. Snow conditions were horrendous for skiing thanks to the warm temps and wicked thick breakable crust but it was still a nice day out. For the skiers out there: it was my first day on the new BD Megawatt skis... hard to tell yet if I like them. They were able to ski the breakable crust, but does anything really ski that crap well? I think not. Survival skiing at its finest. I'm working on editing the video.

Hi Ellen and Norris - Thank you both for accompanying me to the peak yesterday. I really had the time of my life. Ellen, you got me up there and back so fast that I had plenty of time to spend Valentines Day with hubby. It was great getting to meet you guys. Thanks again! I'm hooked!

Howdy Sally :)

It was my pleasure and honor to accompany you on your first snow ascent of San Jacinto -- in brand new snowshoes no less 8) Thanks for putting up with my zig-zag approach to the Miller Saddle  Sorry I didn't get to say a formal goodbye -- I made a mad dash for the ladies room as soon as we reached the lower tram station. I look forward to playing in the snow with you again soon.

Howdy Norris :)

Always enjoy your company and look forward to hearing about more of your great trips.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Hi, I enjoyed the day with both of you. The route deviations due to OPT (Other People's Tracks) were interesting. It's always fun to examine the GPS track afterwards and see where you actually went
We made a big 'S' on the approach to the Sid Davis drainage, first following tracks going too far south, then others going too far north. After we made that curving traverse and got back on track, instead of bearing west, we followed OPT going toward Round Valley again
It's amazing how different everything looks under 4 extra feet of snow, and how easy it is to convince yourself you are going in the right direction when you're not.
I'm going to plot a route next time so my GPS beeps at me when I start deviating from it.
