Snow conditions at top of tram Fri 1/15?

I'm headed into Palm Springs this coming weekend and would like to do some snowshoeing at the top of the tram.

I see that there is supposed to be some new snow this week.

Any opinions about what the conditions might be like this Friday?

The real snow is not expected until next Monday. From the trip reports there are patches of ice above Long Valley. Conditions vary daily.
