Here's a list from the Mt. Hood Natl Froest website:

http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/mthood/recreati ... ndex.shtml

You could also try posting for info on cascadeclimbers.com .

If doing it from Timberline Lodge ski area (the popular route), its a basic snow and ice climb (crampons and ice axe), with one bergshrund not too far from the top. If your there doing it solo, its pretty easy to find partners from Timberline, too. Start in the predawn hours as the snow gets sloppy after the sun rises. Also go early in the season (spring), since it'll turn into a 'bowling alley' (you're the pin!) later in summer.

Have fun!

Tina: I'm looking at doing Hood in early June, so you'll be able to fill me in on all the details. In addition to cascadeclimber, summitpost has some good info. I hear the route through the Pearly Gates isn't used much anymore - too dangerous most of the time now.

Here's some more forest service info:

Perry did it solo last year this past summer, so he might be able to help with some info on the climb.

Hood's not that hard

Postby halhiker » Sat Dec 26, 2009 8:40 pm

I did Hood a few years ago and it's really not that hard. You shouldn't have a problem. Just practice your self arrest. The section above the bergshrund is the only really steep part and the rest is pretty straight forward.

Of course, I'm assuming you'll do the standard route from Timber Lodge.
