I'm bringing a bag of snack-sized Snickers left over from Halloween for anyone that wants added carbohydrate :P

I should be available to give some hikers a ride from tramway back to Snow Creek on Saturday afternoon. But only before 4pm as i have other commitments later. I think Tina and Zippety have my phone numbers. If anyone else thinks they'll be at the valley station before 4pm DM me and i can send you my phone number.

I will update with more info when available.B

Brad - I can give you a ride back to LQ. Let me know what time Friday afternoon, I'm only ten minutes from the tram station.

Hello Ellen:
I would like to join you folks on the Snow Creek hike. Sounds like nonstop fun! Thanks to the excellent directions, I can make my way to the starting point, so I plan on being there at 3:30, ready to go. Is the permit situation all set? Anything you need me to bring?

Thanks,
Phil

I need to revise this a bit. Looks like i might be picking up Zipp and Blue Rail sometime before noon. I could also do another shuttle run after that say 1 or 2pm if anyone else is back to the tram by then. But otherwise i need to be done and back home by about 3pm. Thanks.

Just for fun i hiked a ways up the PCT from Snow Creek this morning. It's a very nice trail through huge boulders with great views. However it takes forever to get anywhere. After 5.5 miles i was at the 3200' level and had only gained 2000' of elevation from the gate! That distance on the Skyline you've climbed about 5000'. You guys that love a steep cardio climb are probably not gonna like the start of this hike too much. BTW, i don't see any reason why 2 or 3 cars couldn't park right at the gate as long as you keep off the pavement. There are no NO PARKING signs and my truck was fine there today. Even saw a DWA employee and he just smiled and waved. Just saves a couple hundred yards of walking is all.

Also ran into a couple forum members. Was it Scott and Rick? Sorry for not remembering your names. If you guys see this let me know who you are!

It's not steep at all but that's why you can move fast.

You noticed that, huh?

I understand that it's intentionally graded to be smooth and functional for backpackers as well as hikers. Still, from our perspective as regulars on Skyline, it does seem a little too easy on the incline.

I prefer it as a running trail myself, as you don't get bored and can get some serious miles in without having to stop and gasp for air like I do on Skyline.
