Routes 2 and 3 both look good. #3 might be in the Salton Sea area
It's Route 2 that I'm planning on doing. I'm just trying to figure out if I want to do it as a day hike or carry enough stuff to allow for an overnight bivy. If I do it overnight, I might go cache water along the route in advance.
Hi Kathy, shoot me a PM when you get ready to do this; if you're looking for company I might join you. I hiked Rabbit/Villager from S22 and actually enjoyed it. I remember meeting Mars Bonfire on Villager. He told me he had left a super bright strobe light sitting on the dashboard of his truck back at the trailhead. It was very effective as a navigational aid for the return trip in the dark, but it looked so very far away that for a time I couldn't bear to look at it.
P.S.-Sorry for the thread drift.
