GPS Track On Snow Creek - PCT Trail Up San Jacinto Summit?

Any one have a gps track on that route. I know the route is easy to follow but I like to use it as a gauge in figuring water requirements for the hike. I have the data from the SJ summit to where the Fuller Ridge trail comes in.

It is about 29 miles from Snow Creek over the summit and down to the Tram. I am guessing no water until I reach the Round Valley pipe.

In an emergency you could detour a couple miles west on the road and get water at the Cinco Poses Spring near the Boulder Basin campground. There is no water in the campground itself unless they've replaced the pump. Also there was still water crossing the trail below LRV the end of Sept but don't know if is still flowing now.

You might consider having someone meet you at the campground for Fuller Ridge and just have them do the last 6 miles to the summit with you and go back to their car and out that way, they could bring the extra water you need.

I am planning it as a day hike. I spoke with a guy 2 weeks ago and he said no water at Little Round Valley now. I had also heard that the water at the campground was out as well. The grade doesn't look that steep so I'm sure I'll be able to carry enough. I may just hike over to LRV and drop a bottle for insurance.

I use jeffrey's site already and its great.

The gps I was looking for was a southbound up hill version that would give me a better feel for pace and grade. I have the gps from the PCT sites but they are all going northbound.

I'll keep you posted as this gets firmed up for me. I want this one done before the snow begins to lay up top.

When I did it a couple of years ago, the GPS said 31 miles and 12,000 or so elevation gain. There is a lot of up and down between the Fuller Ridge trailhead and the junction going on up through LRV on the Marion Mountain trail. I cached water at the Fuller Ridge trailhead - the road is still open I think (Black Mountain?) and it might be a good idea to drive some in. I still have caches there from two years ago - not fresh, but I bet they're still there. Anyway, a cache there might be a good idea again.

I got a decent track to work from and just inverted it. Doesn't do diddly for pace but gives me the data on distance and elevation gain.

Jean and I have a family commitment that day so we won't be coming to play. If Hal goes next Tuesday he will have the straight up newest scoop on brush and water.

Your 31 miles might be partially due to where you are starting. I believe I am measuring from the DWA gate. Most people driving will need to leave their cars back by the block building on the main road to keep from being towed. The homeowners don't like people parking up in the village.
