Any kooky memories from that crazy day?

General Palm Springs area.

Rick: You should have seen me about 30 seconds before that. I was at the rail next to the observing area, about to climb over and be done, and I couldn't get my foot to lift high enough to put it on the rock for that last step up. I had to pull on my knee with my hand to make it come up! Things just looked better in the bar because I didn't have to move!

I hope to see you out there on the trail soon! We don't have to compete (you'd beat me anyway!) but we can go play!

Seems pretty kookie to think about having ZippetyDude out as rattlesnake bait the night before and then say that Rick and Mike were in the rear as sweepers.

not so kooky, but i thought it was great that I did not need to use my headlamp once during the first ascent as the moon was radiating that night. 8)

I agree how interesting it was that everyone i ran into on the trail was asking "are you a back to backer" or "are you part of that crazy double today"....its not the first time i've been looked at so oddly.

Battle of wits with a deer

Postby michael » Wed Nov 11, 2009 7:36 pm

Just finished 3rd skyline walking toward the tram stairway...weary...Rick is 3 minutes ahead of me...and i lose him in the darkness only to see what i think are his backpack reflectors...I start chatting with him and asking him why is he in the bushes...walked up to a deer. wow, they really do freeze in headlights...really tired...so glad the deer didnt answer back...
