Congrats to all those who completed their endeavor to hike Skyline back to back. I hope no one was among the hikers lost in the State Park.

For those interested, while you all were out hiking on this formerly unknown, but now overused trail, I was out discovering two trails that I'd never done before. One was near 1000 Palms and appears to be a fairly new creation and the second is south of La Quinta and appears to be an ancient Indian Trail.

Alright Hal...Throw me a life line. I still have yet to see a big horn in the wild. Bear, deer, coyotes, phantom flash of a mountain lion, snakes, lizards but no big horns. If I don't see one this winter I am going to start dropping salt blocks to lure them in.

I think you have one of the best hiking blogs going. Keep up the great work! Your family does understand that this is work right?

I've seen Bighorn on four separate occasions this year and numerous times in the past, both in the Santa Rosas and in Joshua Tree. I've just been lucky, I guess, or maybe I've just gone to the right places. I do a lot of cross country which helps I think.

Yesterday's sheep were close and I'm so mad I didn't have my regular camera. I could've gotten some great shots. I want to do that trail again. I'm not sure where it goes but it's right in the middle of Bighorn country.

And yes, my wife realizes it's a job. She just wishes it paid more. I think we'll both be glad when the year's out.
