BACK TO BACK

General Palm Springs area.

Please, please, PLEASE... when talking to the press, EMPHASIZE the difficulty of this hike. No water sources, exposure, heat in summer, snow/ice in winter, elevation gain, etc.. It's a "route" not a hike.

I love that people want to challenge themselves. But sometimes people underestimate Mother Nature and/or overestimate their physical abilities. The problem when they do this on the Skyline is that there is no easy out. It's not like running a marathon on a city street where you can just stop, call a cab, and go home.

There are already enough wahoos who attempt the Skyline unprepared because of something they remember reading.

Please do your part to discourage the casual hiker. They put themselves and SAR personnel at risk.

I'm going to go have a drink, or two, now....

When you mention that people have unfortunately died on the trail, as recently as months ago, it seems to get their attention the most. I actually thought this was going under the radar anyway.

Hope everyone has a fun time. Honestly, I don't think anybody should be doing back-to-back unless they are so used to doing Skyline that's it's not a challenge anymore. As I mentioned previously, doing 3 Skylines in a day is only smart if a person has already done 2 in a day recently and had enough time to recover. Is somebody going to be a sweeper in the evening and look for exhausted hikers? Rick Kent, when do you expect to finish your 3rd climb?

Wait a minute, Rick's only going for 3 trips??? Okay in that case I'm only going for 2 since I am expecting him to carry my trim 250lbs above Flat Rock.

I'm actually not feeling too great at the moment. Caught a cold or something a couple days ago. I'm praying for a quick recovery but I'm feeling sub-par at the moment. Still hoping for the best but at the moment going up a few flights of stairs feels like real work. I do so much want to try for 3x.
