Bad news, I think Skyline just got higher.

I went up for an hour this morning and at the area just before Shade Rock the rock marker which has said "2600" for the past two years now says "3000". Haven't read anything about significant changes in plate tectonics, and my house hasn't moved, so, who knows?

Yes, there will be lots of people on the trail November 7th. I'm headed up with a group of people by 2:30 am. I'm one of the slower people in my group, so faster later starters will catch up/pass me as I head up - My goal is to eventually do the whole C2C by going from Palm Springs to the summit of San Jacinto and back down to Palm Springs again on foot, but I don't think I'll be in shape for it on Nov 7th, so I'll either just do Skyline or C2C and take the tram down. If the snow holds off, I'll try the whole C2C in late November or early December.

There are other groups starting later too. My guess is there will be at least 30 people doing at least the Skyline section of C2C on November 7th and many of them continuing on to the summit of San Jacinto.

I am thinking there will be over 50 that day-i could be way off but that is my guesstimate...i think there will be 15-20 actually attempting the back to back. then we have rick doing a possible triple.

I WANT TO EXPRESS A COUPLE THINGS FOR NOVEMBER 7TH.

• IF YOU ARE NOT CONDITIONED TO DO SKYLINE, PLEASE DON’T. I AM HOPING THAT THERE ARE NO RESCUES ON THE MOUNTAIN. THIS IS NOT AN EASY HIKE, PEOPLE ARE RESCUED ALL THE TIME AND I PRAY NOV. 7TH THERE ARE NONE, REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES YOU PLAN TO DO IT.
• ANOTHER ISSUE I CAN’T EXPRESS ENOUGH IS DON’T LITTER. THERE ARE GOING TO BE A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THE TRAIL THIS DAY-WHATEVER YOU DO PICK UP YOUR TRASH, ITS NOT DISNEYLAND, PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING TO COME UP BEHIND YOU AND PICK IT UP. JUST HAVE COMMON COURTESY.
THANK YOU…

ooh I'm good at this. how about

If you are planning on trying the back to back, you MUST have hiked Skyline before.

If you are planning on trying one Skyline or C2C, you MUST do a hike with at least 5000 ft elevation gain in the 2 weeks prior (from Perry).

If you are not familiar with the route, you must bring / print out a detailed map with the Skyline "trail" on it, along with a compass. GPS coordinates can be provided.

While there will be people on the trail at different times, DO NOT RELY ON SOMEONE ELSE TO FOLLOW THE PATH unless you know beforehand that you will go at the same pace / stick together.

If you are starting early, bring a head lamp.

Bring a lot of water. This depends on a lot of variables, but expect to carry 4-6 liters of water if you have not done this trail before. Make sure a portion of this liquid has electrolytes.

No, not you. Well, maybe a dropper full.

Everyone else? The usual -- many liters.
