I completed Grand Canyon R2R2R this past Saturday. Made it from the South Rim (South Kaibab) to North Rim in 7 hrs 23 mins. Returned to South Rim via Bright Angel for total R2R2R time of 16 hrs 17 mins. 45 miles, 11000+ ft gain. Looking forward to the 7th.

And then when is the other R2R2R with a R2R2R back to back?

Nice work Rick, how crowded was Bright Angel on the return leg?

The "Quinness People" will be calling soon :D

Tons of people on the Bright Angel. Also quite a lot coming down from the North Rim. It was obviously a very popular weekend. Talked to one guy who is going to attempt a R2R2R2R (South to North to South to North) this weekend. Definitely some amazing people out there.

I'm going to start around 2:30am. That means I'll probably be starting up for the 2nd time around 9am. To go for 3 times up Skyline (and catch the tram) I will need to get back to the museum by around 3 or 3:30pm. Later than that and the likelyhood of catching the last tram down is questionable (due to slower pace). If I'm back at 3 and don't feel completely drained then I'll probably go for it. The mileage (30 miles) is no big deal. It's that 24000 ft elevation gain I can't quite get a good feel for.

Hello all -

I am looking to make my first attempt at C2C around this time. I was originally planning on the week before, but it doesn't sound like there are many folks out on the trail that weekend.

I have no illusions of going back to back, but is it safe to say that there will be plenty of people out on the trail on 11/7?

My main concern is being able to find the trail, as I have heard that it's a bit unclear for first-timers, especially in the dark. If I start around 3:30-4am on 11/7, do you think there will be enough people on the trail to make it fairly easy to find?

Best,
Martin

Martin, it is safe to say you will find people that day to help you with the trail, i have no doubt.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Hell if you get all the shortcuts it will only be 24 miles, 25000 ft gain!!!
