I find smokin crack all the way up eliminates the need for all the other stuff mentioned earlier!!
Plus people move out of the way fast when they see the crazed look in your eyes!

All kiddin aside, the main area of concern on the trail is what we call the traverse, it's in the trees above 7k ft. & goes from south to north (approx.).
Just pay attention in the rocky drainages, there are a few ducks (cairns), but generally you'll go up a little, but mainly to the right (north).
The trail is visable,just look for it, (in between all the heavy breathing).
The trail is not recongized by the agencies, and many of us that have been hiking it for many years, perfer to keep it this way.
It's my belief that if too many want to turn it into a freeway, post GPS coordinates all over the web, trouble will follow.
Hike with someone who knows the route if possible the 1st time.
Yes some people get lost, but so do many on more marked trails.
