The event on Nov 7 is back to back Skylines -- museum to tram. Tina has arranged transport from the lower tram station back to the museum.

Howdy Ellen!

Thanks for the clarification, it doesn't take much to confuse this 'old dog' anymore... :P

Whoopee!!!

Howdy Norma,

I am so glad you're coming out for the event and would be honored to hike the first (and perhaps only) Skyline.

You are an amazing climber -- I just revisited your pictures of your technical climbs on San J with Dave. Yikes!!!

You're correct -- I will start shortly after midnight. For my pace, a 7 hour or so first Skyline is necessary for me to even consider starting a second loop.

Ellen

Rick Kent -- Mt. Whitney double

Postby Ellen » Mon Sep 28, 2009 2:55 pm

Howdy All :)

Rick Kent's trip report of his recent Mt. Whitney double in a day

www.whitneyportalstore.com/forum/ubbthr ... w=1#UNREAD

His second ascent (up the main trail) which he thought was slow was close to my usual ascent time

I think he's in serious training for the Novemeber 7 Skyline event

I'm going to take a bungee cord and see if I can catch a ride

For Skyline I'll certainly be as prepared as I can be. I've done some hard dayhikes this year. I dayhiked Picket Guard (one of the most remote Sierra peaks) with Bob Burd a couple weeks ago and next month I'm doing Grand Canyon R2R2R. So 2 Skylines would be nice. 3 would be even better but we'll see. 24,000 feet of gain is an awefully daunting figure.

Since there will be so many forum regulars on the trail on the 7th maybe we should all wear name tags with our nicknames so we know who's who!

Howdy Mr. Kent (alias Superman) :)

Congratulations on your Whitney achievement 8) I look forward to getting a glimpse of you on Skyline on November 7. Perhaps if I drop pieces of Kryptonite along the trail, you'll slow down enough to be visible to the naked eye

With all the luminaries coming in November, maybe I'll have to put in an apearance. Instead of a name tag as Florian suggests, look for someone with a baby carrier. You all can do C2C. I'm going to do "tram to bar," a lesser known but equally worthwhile route.
